Often, trying to live out our Catholic Christian faith can be very difficult; it can seem as impossible as breathing underwater. It is as if we were immersed in an ocean of suffering, violence, financial problems, instability, natural disasters and values that go against the teachings of Jesus. We can choose to live in fear or cynicism; we can choose simply to live for ourselves or only for the things this world offers; or, we can choose to learn how to “breathe underwater” and do what seems paradoxical and impossible. I invite you to learn how to experience “a peace that the world cannot give” (John14:27) and “a peace that passes understanding” (Philippians 4:7).
